Shanie Brown

Personal Profile

Over the past 20 years I have had a long history of governance in local primary schools. Since joining the Governing Body at William Barcroft, I have further developed my skills. I am now Vice Chair working closely with the Chair of Governors to scrutinise, challenge and support. I truly believe William Barcroft school is an exceptional place where children are allowed to flourish and achieve their dreams. I have been married for 34 years and have on adult son. I am Safeguarding Manager for a local primary school and have been fortunate enough to work alongside some of the staff who are now at Barcroft. The team at William Barcroft have always made me feel very welcome and I look forward to developing my relationship with the school further.

Personal Profile

As Headteacher I have sat on the Governing Body of the school since 2009. I very much enjoy the challenge and support offered by our diverse team of governors who are ambitious and forward thinking. I have constantly sought to improve the quality of information that the governors receive to enable them to understand the day to day running of the school and to make strategic decisions. I enjoy governance and have in the past sat on other school governing bodies and was for a long time a member of the Music Hub governance. It is my hope that by improving the governing body through quality CPD, clear information and opportunities to get to know the team we continue to grow in strength.

Personal Profile

I started working at WBJS in June 2014 as a Learning Mentor within the Pastoral Team. I absolutely love my job and find working with our children a total pleasure every day. I worked with Y5 and followed them through to Y6 and it has been fabulous to have built some excellent relationships with the children and their families. I also take groups of children for pastoral sessions across all year groups. I am married with three grown-up children and three grandchildren and live in Grimsby with my husband John and our French Bulldog Napoleon.

I enjoy gardening, eating out and travelling, especially to France and Italy, but in particular to Corfu which we try to visit every year. I also love all things ‘vintage’ and can spend many an hour scouring antique/flea markets and car boot sales for things of interest.

Personal Profile

I am completely new to education on a professional level, having been in retail employment for the last around 25 years. Solely being employed by the Ramsden group I have developed from Sales, Flooring Estimator to Flooring Manager. After a successful three years, I now also oversee our Soft furnishings department. I married in 2007 and in 2010 our daughter was born who now attends William Barcroft. Since my introduction to William Barcroft School two years ago, I have to say that I thought the school emulates a tangible warmth and integrity towards Pupil development. I hope I can bring new perspectives in my role as parent governor- a role which I am proud to undertake.

Personal Profile

I am one of the newest members of this Governing Body, but have a long history of Governance whilst working as the School Manager at Woodlands Primary School for 18 years.  I worked with Claire as part of a Senior Management Team until she left to take up her Headship. Her passion and strong believes have been immense in her success and I didn’t need much persuasion in joining her and the Governing Body at William Barcroft Junior School. Until recently I audited the School Fund accounts which meant I made visits to the school and from these visits it soon became apparent it offered a lovely, enthusiastic place for children to learn and flourish. I was always made to feel welcome by the staff and I really look forward to developing my relationship with Claire and the school even further. I hope my vast school experience and finance knowledge will only add to the strength of the Governing Body.
